A video interpretation of the poem "Les Grands Seigneurs" by Dorothy Molloy. Created by Huw Elliott for an English presentation.
The BBC Micro at the start brings back memories ... on school breaks we used to sneak up to the computers on display in a shop (ZX Spectrum + maybe an Acorn or C64, I remember the ZX) and enter like a 4 line program to say something (probably rude )and also, and this was important, a random beep, set it off, then sneak away. Line 10 was a pause to give us time for the getaway after such a shocking deed.
Man I thought this was a fever dream I had ages ago
I wonder what the audience for this was? The chemical equation at 12:40 is hilarious but how many people watching the BBC at that time (or any time) understands any of it? This is comedy for the 1%.
The ultracube sent me here
I can't believe the unethical and wasteful practices that were used back in the day, no wonder I never got to meet an intelligent calcium. Like the dodo, only less tasty and more calciumey
so i only just heard of this show.. but it's a european show using the imperial system (inches) not metric.. so you know they're full of it! lol
Cube!
Ah British humor... as dry as the Sahara, and on the internet, could be easily taken as literal and confusing So many.
doshdoshington sent me here
me too
Glad I’m in good company lmfao
I don't know what to believe anymore
Where can I purchase a Besselheim?
... you know, for kids - the hudsucker proxy, Tim Robbins
Oh no a can't take this .too funny.they murdered the poor sentient calcium
The best programme for those around 50 years old today. Period. ic table
Queen atom had me like...
12000BC is hot
I dont remember which episode it was but out chemistry teached showed us one of these episodes. He almost got fired
Is FORTY TWO a nod to Douglas Adams?
this is probably the best educational film series of all time. We all need to know more about calcium (I call it ninny)
I've built a REMS connected to a ouja board and this is how I'm talk to you from your past
So, apparently the Hebrew at 10:50 translates to "a joker"
Did they use an old camera, or digitally alter the video to look old? It looks too good to be digital, to me ha..
They used film cameras to give it 'that' old look. Film still has a better picture quality than digital.
Yeah i wonder what camera they used specifically, weather it was a vintage film camera, or just a modern one, it looks like they used a vintage one, but idk ha. I think they had a bunch of vintage stock footage, and mixed it with their newly shot footage, kinda seems like that. And yeah it does, as long as the quality of film is good! ha @@GreatGizmo74
I found my old copy book and kept it to hand as I watched this. The notes I made should come in useful at some point.
This made me learn a very lot from this. And I will get מילכיג tattooeded on my forehead.
Is anyone aside from me reviewing this just because you think this satire is amusing?
I'm so back in secondary school whenever I watch this. Roll in the TV! It makes me uncomfortable in a retro way that I never thought possible. Love it.
I like how they spelled Calcium on the chalkboard at the end
12000 BC is a temperature to be reckoned with. Or rather, not to be reckoned with. Or something
Write that down
I really like how it starts mostly serious and slides slowly into total insanity.
It's nothing short of criminal that the Staffordshire Downs haven't been designated an AONB.
Merle ambrose
thank you for being one of the only people to mention this
Calcium bins
My uncle was subjected to Helvetica... it was a closed casket.
Sorry to hear.
I suffer from the helvetica scenario, daily. I've been able to keep it at bay by using claridryl! Lolz do not take before bed or Immediately after waking up... Or with or even without food
I'm ashamed at how long it took me to realize.
Man 7:17 is my absolute zen, very Boards of Canada
Orange
I'm always disturbed when they suffocate the intelligent calcium.
*Neutralise ☺
Educational and informative 👍
boc soundtrack
I don't get it. It's an impressive reproduction but I'd rather watch an original. It was frustrating to watch to be honest.
Science has gone too far, that I-calcius was harmless and in a controlled environment, we didn't even consider if there was any helvetica risk associated with it.
This is what I get for not listening in school. 20 minutes before I realized I was stupid 😂
....20 minutes... I...will never get back.
is the narrator Simon Prebble who also voiced the Computer from Courage The Cowardly Dog?
nigel lambert, who voices merle ambrose in Wizard101
british imperial measurements may as well be nonesense like this, thats what the world thinks when they hear "inches" and "miles" and "quarts" its rediculous nonesense words in british science, created on purpose to confuse people on purpose in a crazy priesthood of confusion where only cetrain people know how things work that normally would be nsuper easy for all to understand. theers power and monety in holding people back
Did you have a stroke while you were typing that comment??
This is beautiful: "rediculous nonesense words" hahaha
this was a real BBC show
It's not Milchig! It's Chalavi
Really interesting to see the development of UK anti-intellectualism as a reflection of its US counterpart. No objectivity is presented not only as the greatest good - but the defining element of the strongest loyalty. This is a betrayal of Western society which should be premised upon 'questioning' (Miletus) when this stops - freedom stops. Just doing what America wants is leading the West into an abyss. If you want to know what ISIS is doing just ask their US paymasters!
The Helvetica scenario is truly terrifying, can someone tell me what plans the government have in place to protect us from this danger.
I remember watching this at school. It’s funny to think that when this was made, Intelligent Calcium didn’t have rights.
